Overland Classifieds :: 2013 Ford Sportsmobile E350 EB V10 4×4

The Ford E350 4×4 Sportsmobile, much like the Mercedes Sprinter 4WD MWB, provides the perfect balance between comfort and capability. There’s no such thing as the perfect rig, but in my experience the best overland vehicles incorporate the comforts of home within the smallest possible footprint. A seasoned overlander once told me that the bigger trucks (think MAN LE160c, Leyland DAF T244, Iveco Eurocargo, Mercedes 1622, etc) offer “the realities of comfort, but the illusion of freedom.” In other words, larger vehicles do offer a greater level of luxury, but their size limits access to many remote locations. Alternatively, the Sportsmobile showcases a well-furnished interior, including a shower/toilet, yet is compact and capable enough to venture almost anywhere.

Sportsmobile was established in 1961 and “has always specialized in the conversion of vans. To the best of our knowledge, we are the oldest in the U.S.” The company, much like Winnebago, EarthCruiser or EarthRoamer, converts stock vehicles into luxurious go-anywhere campers. The company are highly-regarded for their Ford E-Series conversion, which transforms the vehicle into a hardcore all-terrain home-on-wheels.
