In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past year (understandable, given the circumstances), you should know that the demand for campervans has been skyrocketing. In fact, many upfitters are booked out a year or more, forcing prospective buyers to plunk down a deposit and be patient or search for pre-owned vans (which are also in short supply).
But thank goodness for the Expedition Portal forums classified section. It’s truly one of the best places to find gently used (but fully kitted-out) campervans. And that brings us to this little beaut; it’s a 2016 Mercedes Benz 144 Sprinter 4×4 camper conversion that is loaded with all the necessary gear to fast-track a new owner to overland glory.
From the Owner
“Loaded, turnkey 2016 Sprinter 4×4 144 adventure family van, professionally converted. Recent oil change and transmission service and fuel filter with all OEM [Mercedes] parts. [This] van has never been off-road driven, always gently used. [Comes with] extended vehicle warranty through 2026/150K miles, emissions update and extended emissions warranty 2027.”
2016 Mercedes Benz 144-inch Wheelbase Sprinter 4×4 Campervan Conversion
Love it or hate it, the Mercedes Benz Sprinter is one of the most popular cargo van platforms when it comes to campervan conversions. The 144-inch wheelbase is the shortest version of this particular vehicle, making for a very reasonably-sized home on wheels that is still fairly maneuverable despite its size.
Thanks to its 4×4 drivetrain (technically an AWD system), the Sprinter can tackle its fair share of off-highway roads. When “4×4” is engaged, the Sprinter’s transfer case can redistribute 33 percent of the vehicle’s power to the front wheels, (67 percent in the rear) for improved traction. Open differentials with electronic traction control redistribute power in loose terrain, but for owners who want increased control in off-highway terrain, there are aftermarket limited slip and locking differentials available for the Sprinter platform.

This Mercedes campervan conversion has a LOT of aftermarket equipment, but here are a few highlights:
