Have you been looking for a relatively affordable full-sized truck? Here’s one that’s ready to hit the trail the day you buy it. Host of Outside Online’s The 101 video series, Bryan Rogala, is selling his coveted 2006 3rd-generation Ram Power Wagon, with a smart selection of off-highway equipment.
Unlike many of the vehicles that come to us through the Classified section of the Expedition Portal forum, that already have loads of aftermarket equipment installed, this truck offers lots of room to grow into. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t prepared to take you far into the backcountry; it has front and rear locking differentials, a disconnectable sway bar, 35-inch tires, a Warn winch, rock sliders, and more.
From The Seller:
“The 3rd generation Power Wagon is the most sought after for its combination of 4.56 gears and the 5.7 hemi. Overall global production numbers for 3rd generation Power Wagon 2005-2009 was 6,163. There are very few of these trucks left. Mine came with all of the options, including the factory rock sliders, as well as the Power Wagon recovery bag and gloves, which is a bit of a collectors item these days.
This truck has 124,774 miles on it and is in good shape for the year (normal scuffs and light scratches typical of a 16-year-old truck). It’s a New Mexico truck so there’s no rust, but there is some sun fading on the hood and roof, where the clear coat is peeling (typical spots for Dodge trucks of the era).
Mechanically the truck is in good shape. I’ve done quite a bit of work to it and have receipts and maintenance logs (also have the previous owners’ maintenance records).”
Recent work includes:
-
- New fuel evaporative canister
- New exhaust manifold studs
- New fuel pump
- New spark plugs
- New injectors
- New ball joints at 90k miles
- New transmission at 70k miles
- New battery at 115K
- Full synthetic oil change at 124k
- Fresh detail
2006 3rd-Generation Ram Power Wagon
The Power Wagon first appeared in 1945 and was one of the first four-wheel-drive trucks available to civilians after world war 2. Modern Power Wagons are one of the most capable full-size stock trucks on the market, coming standard from the factory with locking differentials, disconnectable sway bar, winch, armor, and a two-inch lift. But in addition to those OEM performance features, the Power Wagon is also capable. The 2006 model year offers a maximum payload of 2,250-pounds and a towing capacity of 10,600, more than enough for the majority of us to haul our gear or a travel trailer. At its core, the Power Wagon is Ram 2500 which has been optimized for off-highway driving.
