Overland Classifieds :: 2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ Unlimited

Many consider the “Long Jeep” Wrangler LJ Unlimited to be a unicorn. A limited number of LJs were produced between 2004 and 2006, and most of the well-cared-for ones have been snatched up due to their sought-after inline 6-cylinder engine, long wheelbase, and small size. The owner of this LJ has transformed the vehicle into an overland machine that has traveled across the US, into Mainland Mexico, and to the beaches of Baja. Between the truck’s silhouette, the aluminum sand ladders, and limb risers, the Jeep is surprisingly reminiscent of a Land Rover Defender 90.

From Kirk:

“We have really enjoyed this Jeep for a number of years. I think this is one of the most amazing Jeep builds that I’ve ever seen—certainly the most awesome kitchen setup. We’ve been to Mexico a couple of times and all around the USA off-roading, camping, and living life. The Jeep has never let us down. Three years ago, we expanded and bought a Sportsmobile 4WD van, and we have not camped with the Jeep since. I realized that I hadn’t even driven it in months, so it’s time for a new home.

What I like about the Jeep is the huge kitchen that expands out of the back on sliders and the Eezi-Awn 2000 self-retracting awnings; they are so easy to use I don’t know why I don’t see them more.

Where it has traveled: Copper Canyon, Cerro El Potosi, Canon de Fernandez, and Baja Mexico; Big Bend, Mojave, Death Valley, and across the USA from shore to shore.”

On the zig-zag route south, she hiked craggy peaks in the Andes, discovered diverse cultures in 15 different countries, and filled her tummy with spicy ceviche, Baja fish tacos, and Argentinian Malbec.
