Overland Classifieds :: 2000 Land Rover Discovery

The Discovery was designed to carry forward Land Rover’s legendary utilitarian credentials while introducing a new level of driver refinement. In many ways, this model set the tone for all future Land Rovers, which are now almost indistinguishable from their Range Rover counterparts. Consequently, these older Discoveries offer a sweet spot between the rugged workhorse Landies of the past and the company’s new era of luxurious tech-heavy vehicles. These rigs require a fair amount of work to ensure reliability, so I’d recommend checking out Scott Brady’s 1995 Discovery I build series for inspiration. Today’s example has recently undergone an Atlantic British long block engine swap (under 10,000 miles on the new motor), showcases several tasteful modifications, and is priced at $10,000.

From the Seller:

“Up for sale is my 2000 Discovery. New 4.6-liter Atlantic British long block engine installed with less than 10,000 miles.. All-new exhaust, including cats, but not manifold (it was replaced separately a few years ago with the engine install). This Discovery is a beast and runs strong.”

2000 Land Rover Discovery

The Discovery was fitted with a V8 motor (or a 2.5-liter TD5 diesel) that produces 188 horsepower, 250 pound-feet of torque, and returns a combined 13 mpg. On-road performance, comfort, and reliability show marked improvement over the previous model, thanks to uprated self-leveling suspension and Active Corner Enhancement.All-terrain capability is excellent thanks to low-range, a center locking differential and intelligent electronic systems such as traction control, electronic brakeforce distribution, and hill descent control.
