Overland Classifieds :: 1996 Ford E-350 4×4 Ambulance

The E-350 is undoubtedly a favorite on our forum for overland builds with recent examples including this 1999 Class C camper, a 2006 Sportsmobile, and a 2010 Ujoint 4×4. The price for these rigs varies dramatically with empty panel vans advertised as low as $20,000 and fully-equipped campers often listed for over $100,000. Today’s 1996 offering showcases a Salem Kroger 4×4 conversion, a fully-equipped camper conversion, and premium modifications, yet is priced very competitively at $37,500. In addition, this example is fitted with the legendary 7.3-liter Power Stroke, which is fabled for its bulletproof reliability and has only covered 142,000 miles (I recommend checking out Truck House Life and his epic F-350 for more info on this engine and its benefits). The E-350 is one of the few vans that benefits from access to a wide array of 4WD conversions, which are far more heavy-duty and capable than the systems found on vans such as the Transit AWD, Toyota Hiace 4×4, and Mercedes Sprinter 4×4. If you’d like to see just what this vehicle is capable of then check out Revere Overland and Driving Line put the E-350 through its paces on some challenging backcountry trails. Additionally, the ambulance body fitted to today’s example provides considerably more living space than a regular panel van and can be transformed into a well-equipped rolling home as demonstrated by the inspiring builds from Tomas R4W Overland and WeldTec Designs.

From the Seller:

Based on some new life events, I have decided to sell a few of my projects. This has been a great rig, utilized both on and off road. I have tested the features and lived out of this rig for 10+ days at a time. It’s not the perfect build, but could be perfect for someone. The biggest thing for me was that I can only stand straight up on the first step of the side entry door. So if you are over 6 foot, this would be something to consider.”

1996 Ford E-350 4×4 Ambulance

The E-350 is fitted with the legendary 7.3-liter Power Stroke diesel that in stock form produces 215 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque (some engines were offered with 225 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque). This engine is not especially economical or refined but it is exceptionally long-lived with many well-maintained examples often exceeding 1,000,000 miles. A exceptionally dependable motor is mated with excellent capability thanks to a 4WD conversion from Salem Kroger 4×4. This system upfits the E-350 with 4WD, high and low range, Dana 60 axles, Warn locking hubs, and more. Inside driver comforts include:
