Overland Classifieds :: 1992 Mitsubishi Delica L300

I returned from Scandinavia at the end of 2019 after two years of sea kayaking, mountaineering, and bikepacking in the Arctic Circle, and once back in the UK, discovered that my 1986 Vanagon Syncro required an engine rebuild. The issue here was that I needed a vehicle to return to Norway so I decided to buy a Delica L300 Chamonix as a temporary replacement. In the end, I fell in love with the Mitsubishi and realised that in many respects it was a superior rig for overland travel. Nonetheless, I did eventually sell it as the Syncro was already tailored to my requirements, but I’ve missed the Delica ever since. The L300 is an interesting vehicle because it’s ultimately a short-wheel-base van built onto the chassis of a 4WD (Mitsubishi Pajero). This means you get the compact exterior dimensions, capability, and relatively low running costs of a 4WD with the versatility and space of a van. I do use the term “van” loosely as they have limited space inside, but with a pop-up or high-top roof, they’re perfectly liveble. One of the best-equipped vans I’ve ever seen is this incredible Mitsubishi Delica L300 4×4 built by SlackerVan. If you’d like a better idea of how this platform handles when the tarmac ends, then check out the adventures of Martin VanMan on YouTube. Today’s 1992 offering was originally built to complete the infamous Pan-American Highway and subsequently showcases tasteful modifications and a simple, yet functional camper interior.

From the Seller:

This van has been built and maintained for adventure. We initially built it to take on the Pan-American Highway but ended up going a different route after finishing our build. This van has been an amazing adventure vehicle that has taken us on many camping and road trips. As sad as we are to let it go, we hope it will take you on countless adventures!”
