Overland Classifieds :: 1991 Mitsubishi Delica L300 Reimo Pop Top Camper

I owned a Delica L300 Chamonix some years back, and to this day I regret selling it. The L300 is a unique overland platform because it’s ultimately a SWB van built onto the chassis of a 4WD (a modified Pajero chassis to be exact). This means you get the capability of a 4WD mated with the additional space and versatility of a van. In my opinion, some of the best expedition vehicles are those that offer maximum comfort in the most compact package possible. This approach creates a rig that’s comfortable for long-term travel yet is relatively cheap to run and maintain, easy to park, ship, store, drive around town, and more. This winning formula is perfectly demonstrated by Slackervan’s Mitsubishi Delica L300 4×4, which remains one of the most impressive rigs I have ever seen. The L300 is a popular choice on our forum with recent examples including this 1993 Chamonix, a 1992 StarWagon, and a 1992 Pop-Top. Today’s Delica is a desirable Reimo conversion that incorporates a well-equipped camper interior, pop top roof, and a selection of aftermarket upgrades. At $18,000 OBO it’s competitively priced but will require shipping from the United Kingdom (the seller can help facilitate this).

From the Seller:

The Delica Reimo Poptop camper is a rare thing indeed with only around 500 ever being produced. This one is especially desirable because it was equipped from new with a full factory-fitted camping interior. These Delicas rival the Vanagon Syncro when it comes to their utility and mobility while being powered by a more reliable turbo diesel engine. They also incorporate the 4WD drive system utilized in the Mitsubishi Montero of the same era with a 2-speed transfer case, locking front hubs, and a limited-slip rear differential. Just a great, go-anywhere, backcountry and overland camping vehicle.”

1991 Mitsubishi Delica L300 Reimo Poptop Camper

The L300 is fitted with a 2.5-liter turbodiesel motor that in basic form produces 84 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque (higher output models are available.) A relatively economical motor is mated with excellent all-terrain capability, thanks to a modified Mitsubishi Pajero chassis, 4WD, high and low range, manual locking hubs, and a limited-slip rear differential. Inside driver comforts include:

  • Dual-zone air-conditioning
  • Aftermarket stereo and speakers
  • Dash pod with altimeter and inclinometer
  • Power steering, locks, windows, and mirrors

Distinguishing Features

  • Reimo pop top camper conversion
  • Momo steering wheel
  • Webasto heater
  • Bull bar
  • Awning

This 1991 Mitsubishi Delica L300 Reimo pop top camper is listed for $18,000 and is currently located in Oxford, England. Check the full vehicle specifications via the original Expedition Portal forum post here.
