The Land Cruiser HJ47 isn’t fast or comfortable, but it is simple and spacious and can be tinkered on by most mechanics worldwide. While many Land Cruiser fans opt for the 70-Series Troopies these days, the HJ47s are rarer.
This 1982 Australian right-hand-drive HJ47 underwent a body-off restoration in 2013, including body and paint (original Land Cruiser Dune Beige) from the frame up. It also boasts a custom snorkel and rear bumper fabricated by a previous owner in Australia. As this classic Toyota is located in Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada, prospective American buyers should strike while the iron is hot. The current exchange rate is in your favor. Whether you make it yours to drive around your neighborhood or the world, this Troopy is guaranteed to turn heads.
From Robert:
“I purchased this Troopy in 2002 and have been slowly restoring it since then. It’s an around-town driver that gets out once or twice a week on average; otherwise, it’s in the garage. A detailed list of what has been done to this Cruiser can be emailed to potential buyers.
This Cruiser has some areas where the rust is starting to come back since the restoration work in 2013. The odometer stopped turning approximately six months ago. To my knowledge, these are the only items that require attention.
What I love about this Land Cruiser is its classic look and feel. It’s nice to have a truly analog driving experience without the distractions from electronic gadgets that modern vehicles have today. I’ve tried to keep it as close to the original as possible to retain that classic look, except for a few items like the snorkel and rear bumper. I’ve owned it for 19 years, and my family and I have had many great adventures in it along the way. This Land Cruiser can go just about anywhere you want to take it! I have another build on the go, and, unfortunately, this one is going to need a new home.”
