Icon Releases 2014+ Ram 2500 Suspension

It feels like this platform has been getting a lot of love from the aftermarket parts world lately. ARB released a cool new bumper, as did AEV, and the Prospector line now includes everything from fender flares to snorkels and even hoods. It appears that the expanding base of products is far from slowing down though, and Icon Vehicle Dynamics is the latest manufacturer to add another option to the list.

For those of you who don’t know, Icon makes specialized high performance suspensions for off-road vehicles, and this new offering addresses the radius arm front end, and multi-link rear end used in the 2014+ Rams. As usual they set out with the goal of maximizing wheel travel while striking a balance between road and dirt handling, but this time they also had the challenge of preserving the truck’s great towing capability and use of stock air suspension.

The solution was to start by dialing in four different stages of suspension kits with various degrees of features and tuning. When they had perfected each, they then duplicated the process with the air suspension to ensure they achieved optimum performance without the risk of over-traveling the bags. The end result is 21 complete kits, each with unique advantages and handling characteristics. Okay, so technically there are only 11 kits in the new 2.5″ segment, but we feel the bigger 4.5″ kit is still worth mentioning.

The 2.5″ system utilizes dual-rate front coil springs with new bracketry and hardware, as well as the 2.0 Aluminum and 2.5 VS Series front and rear shocks. As you step up into higher stages, additional changes are added including an optional performance based tuning intended for desert chase trucks, and adjustable front and rear track bars to maintain proper alignment during articulation.

This new suspension looks to be an exciting offering for those needing more off-road performance and ride quality, without an excessive addition in height. A maximum fit of an aggressive 35″ tire is recommended with the 2.5″ kits, however additional tire size may be achieved by stepping up to a 4.5″.

These and other great Icon suspensions are made in the USA, and can be viewed on their company website here.
