Tight Loops | Two in the North driven by Mobil 1 follows filmmakers and naturalists Aimee and Chase Bartee as they point their Tundra north for a summer-long journey through Vancouver Island, British Columbia, the Yukon, and Alaska. Along the way, they chase wild fish, nemesis birds, remote landscapes, and the unexpected moments that make traveling without a rigid plan worthwhile.
For years, Alaska remained the biggest blank space on Aimee and Chase Bartee’s map—a place they had always dreamed of exploring but never managed to reach. In Tight Loops | Two in the North, the filmmaker duo finally set out to change that, leaving Montana in their Toyota Tundra equipped with a Four Wheel Campers Fleet for a summer journey through Vancouver Island, British Columbia, the Yukon, and the wild country beyond.
Part overland travelogue, part natural-history film, the series follows Aimee and Chase as they search for native fish, add new birds to their life lists, tread unfamiliar water, and document the landscapes and wildlife that draw them further and further north. Their route is intentionally loose, leaving space for difficult conditions, wrong turns, hard-earned discoveries, and the kind of encounters that can’t be planned from behind a screen.
The journey begins on Vancouver Island, where weeks of rain, changing tides, and empty water turn the hunt for a sea-run coastal cutthroat into an exercise in patience. What begins as a fishing mission soon becomes something larger: a story about curiosity, creative renewal, connecting with wild places, and learning when to keep searching, and when to let the road reveal something unexpected.
Aimee and Chase are award-winning filmmakers whose work blends fly fishing, overland travel, art, and conservation, with a particular focus on wild species and intact ecosystems.
