EarthCruiser Unveils All-Electric GMC Hummer EV EarthCruiser Overland Upfit

The times they are a-changing. Not too long ago, some scoffed at the idea of an all-electric overland vehicle, while others heralded the EV revolution as the future of overland travel. Today, the future is here as EarthCruiser introduced the long-awaited all-electric GMC Hummer EV EarthCruiser, publicly unveiled today and set to debut at the Overland Expo Mountain West in Loveland, Colorado, where it will be on display from August 25th to 27th.

Lance Gillies, EarthCruiser CEO and Founder announced,

“We are proud to work with GMC on the design and manufacturing of such an exceptional product. It feels right, it feels like it belongs. Using our years of overlanding expertise, we have ensured nothing is out of place, unnecessary, or wasted in this vehicle. This collaboration with the GMC team has provided the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the zero-tailpipe emission possibilities for overland and recreational vehicle travelers. We have produced a comfortable, capable product, built to a high caliber of excellence–one that our customers can take pride in.”

The GMC Hummer EV Earthcruiser sure is a head turner, and it is apparent from the press release images that the Earthcruiser designers have worked hard to produce a vehicle that is seamless and that expertly echos the Hummer EV design language. GMC must be pretty impressed as, no doubt, they will be the first owners of this exceptional vehicle.

The GMC Hummer EV EarthCruiser upfit introduces various technological and design innovations to achieve an unparalleled consumer experience. These innovations include a seamlessly integrated carbon fiber EarthCruiser “house” onto the chassis of the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, onboard solar power generating 605-watts and an innovative 6-kilowatt-hour 12-volt lithium battery system, providing an estimated seven days of off-grid power for appliances like refrigerators and freezers.

The upfit also offers a sense of freedom in any season with EarthCruiser’s insulated tri-layered pop-up roof. Intelligent design shines through with a versatile and optimally organized interior, boasting a curated selection of appliances, indoor and outdoor showers, 120-volt and 12-volt outlets, and purposeful storage, including a flat-pack toilet. The inclusion of an RV full-size bed ensures a comfortable night’s sleep on any terrain for a well-heeled couple.

An intuitive 7-inch-diagonal touchscreen control panel simplifies operation, and unlike a Tesla, for example, the upfit offers the convenience of recharging the GMC Hummer EV EarthCruiser Overlander while you have a nap, prepare a snack or catch up with the news.

Additional product specifications include:

  • A height of 117-inches in “Camp Mode” with the roof up and 90-inches in “Drive Mode” with the roof down;
  • A length of 18 feet;
  • A sleeping capacity of two.

The interior offers 80 inches of standing headroom at the entry, a sink, an induction cooktop, and a host of amenities that enhance comfort and functionality.

Anticipated to be accessible to GMC Hummer EV Pickup owners in 2024 through EarthCruiser, the availability details for the GMC Hummer EV EarthCruiser upfit will be disclosed later in the year. Currently, there is no confirmed retail price, but we are quite sure this camper will be the reserve of a select few.

Interestingly, it is important to note that the EarthCruiser upfit falls outside the coverage of the GM New Vehicle Limited Warranty, and any alterations performed by independent suppliers are not the responsibility of GM.
