Since last year, Overland Journal and Expedition Portal Publisher and CEO Scott Brady has been on a monumental multi-part expedition of East and Southern Africa in the new 2024 Ineos Grenadier. You may have been following the journey on Instagram. Currently in Kenya and searching for a way to cross Ethiopia (a sore sport for many overland travelers on the continent recently), Scott has been documenting his adventures on film throughout these exceptional landscapes. You can watch Crossing Continents Episode One on the Expedition Portal YouTube channel as Scott and sometimes travel partner Joe Fleming explore the wilder reaches of South Africa.
One of the most culturally, linguistically, and geographically diverse countries in Africa, South Africa offers the adventure traveler unparalleled options not only for exploring stunning terrain but also for challenging off-road trails and wildlife encounters, all in a thoroughly modern country with a rich overlanding heritage.
For episode one of Crossing Continents, Scott documents his journey from taking delivery of the Ineos Grenadier in the UK to shipment to Durban. He and Joe spend time in Johannesburg adding accessories, including a Front Runner roof rack and sleeping platform, Redarc solar, Garmin GPS system, and Melvill and Moon seat covers. They travel through the Cederberg Mountains to Cape Town and then to Cape Agulhas before meandering up the East Cape to the border with Mozambique.
Stay tuned for more episodes dropping soon, and listen more about Scott’s remarkable adventure on the Overland Journal Podcast.
