Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road

The Tacoma in any iteration is considered a pinnacle overland platform and has long been a figurehead of the community. The third gen is the best-selling and most proven to date, and continues to be one of the most desirable mid-size pickups amongst our audience. Executive Publisher Scott Brady states, “The Toyota Tacoma has remained the most popular vehicle among our readers, a reflection of the model’s reliability and accessibility. As travelers, we ask a lot from our 4WDs, expecting durability, capability, comfort, and capacity, all while hoping for a great value and even some rugged good looks thrown in. The Tacoma is all of that and so much more, and has become an icon for North American overlanders.” It’s also beloved by the aftermarket with almost unparalleled support that ensures each Tacoma is as unique as its driver. Cue today’s meticulously maintained 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road (111,000 miles), which showcases a plethora of premium upgrades and is turnkey ready for your next adventure. This build is not a proof of concept but rather an extensively backcountry-proven platform that has been in a constant state of evolution and fine-tuning, with over 90,000 miles of backcountry trips as a dedicated overland rig (never used as a daily driver). At $40,000 OBO, this rig represents impressive value when you consider the huge amount of time and money invested. Further still, since it served as the foundation for an OEV Back Country camper, it’s already configured to add your own canopy/camper/habitation box with an uprated suspension, power/wiring provisions, and much more (full details here).

Tacoma TRD Off Road From the Seller:

I built this rig to take me into the unknown, where adventures are fresh and wild. Over the last six years of ownership, this magnificent Tacoma has taken me everywhere from the Pacific Coast to the Rockies, from Canada to Mexico, and everywhere in between. It’s ready to go on any adventure and is wired and set up for a camper such as an Ovrlnd or Topo Topper, etc. I ran it for the last year with an OEV Back Country 5.85’, and it did great. This truck has been used as a travel rig and shows these adventures via scratches and dents. All maintenance has been performed on time and in accordance with Toyota’s recommended intervals. The truck bed has been fully disassembled and sealed with Sika Flex RV sealant to prevent water or dust from getting in. Both bedside storage boxes have been removed and replaced with sheet metal that is sealed against dust and water. The passenger side has provisions for hooking up a diesel heater to warm up the camper. I will be sad to see it go, but alas, a larger truck is necessary for the camper.”
