If you’re a regular on Expedition Portal, you’ll have no doubt seen Paul May’s (of Equipt Expedition Outfitters) exquisite 2013 Toyota 200 series Land Cruiser, which unsurprisingly sold in the blink of an eye. Well, he’s back again with a 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 (226,300 miles), which showcases a plethora of top-tier upgrades, a Ford Windsor 351 V8 race engine, and is topped with an Eezi-Awn Xklusiz 1400 rooftop tent. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a super clean 60 Series built by one of the most reputable companies in the industry for a bargain price. The Land Cruiser of any iteration needs little introduction and is best summarised by journalist and former Expedition Portal contributor Christophe Noel, who states, “Over the years, I’ve come to accept a peculiar truth as part of the general Land Cruiser culture. While there are few for whom the Land Cruiser is not a desirous thing, there are virtually none who genuinely dislike it or deny it due respect. That speaks volumes to the validity of the Land Cruiser as a trusted overland platform.” The 60 Series is considered one of the best of the breed and today remains a popular choice for overlanders with drool-worthy builds showcased by ARB 4×4, Mr LandCruiser, and Cascadia Classic. If you’re in the market for a pinnacle overland rig to explore the US and beyond in 2025, then this Land Cruiser is a great option.
From the Seller:
“My company is called Equipt Expedition Outfitters. We have really enjoyed owning this truck. It has spent the last five years with us as a permanent display in our showroom, with a couple of adventures to Overland Expos as a feature vehicle. But it’s time for us to move on to other opportunities. Is it flawless? No. It has its own character, and it’s a 40-year-old truck. We have brought it a long way to where it is now. This FJ60 is a bit of a unicorn. Under the hood is a Ford Windsor 351 V8 Race Engine, combined with the Ford C6 transmission and a Dana 300 transfer case. From the outside, it looks like a pretty stock-lifted truck, but it is far from it underneath. Inside, you will find the original interior upholstery to be in great shape under the first set of Escape Gear light khaki seat covers in the US (this truck was used as the prototype for them). We replaced the entire carpet kit with matching floor mats. We also re-upholstered the door panels with matching carpet to complete the look. In the back is a full Goose Gear drawer system and camp kitchen.”
