We’ve featured several affordable rigs recently, and today’s well-maintained (148,000) 2014 Subaru Forester is no exception. Sure, the Forester does have its limitations when leaving the tarmac but it will comfortably handle most maintained backcountry roads and can be further uprated for technical terrain (reference Scott Brady’s Baseline Mods for the Subaru Forester).
