It caught my eye on the forum, and after reading more, I quickly realized that this platform is totally underappreciated for overlanding. Firstly, the NV 3500 benefits from a body-on-frame architecture and is underpinned by the same heavy-duty F-Alpha chassis (albeit modified) utilized by the full-size Nissan Titan pickup. It shares a similar powertrain (including the desirable 5.6-liter V8) and, in all respects, is engineered to meet the rigors of commercial applications (not to mention incorporating legendary Japanese build quality and reliability). In addition, it provides up to a 3,850-pound payload (and a 9,400-pound max towing capacity), which ensures plenty of capacity for a camper conversion, equipment, and passengers. A quick internet search revealed that the Nissan has something of a cult following online, with drool-worthy expedition builds showcased by WeldTec Designs and TFL Offroad.
