Mitsubishi Fuso 4x4

The Fuso remains one of the most popular platforms for expedition builds on our forum with recent examples including this 2002, 2007, and 2008. It’s one of the few heavy-duty 4WD trucks that’s available internationally, which makes it easier to access parts and services anywhere in the world. Further still, it benefits from fabled Japanese build quality and is very capable when the tarmac ends. It was for these reasons and more that it has long been the vehicle of choice for expedition truck builders such as EarthCruiser, All-Terrain Warriors, and SLRV Expedition Vehicles. Cue today’s 2004 Mitsubishi Fuso FG 4×4, which has covered just 80,000 miles and showcases tasteful upgrades. At $32,500, this rig represents an impressive value and would be a fantastic, affordable option to mate with a flatbed camper or habitation box. If you’d like a better idea of how this older generation Fuso can be outfitted for off-grid travel, check out the adventures of Van Off Road, Our Midlife Adventures, and Paul Kelley. From the Seller:

“The diesel engine runs amazingly, and the truck has been meticulously maintained. The bed isn’t even a year and a half old and cost $17,500, and the wheels were $7,500 without the tires. My plan was to remove this bed and install a camper, but plans have since change, and and I now have to sell the truck.”

The Fuso is fitted with a 3.9-liter motor that produces 145 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque and is mated with a 5-speed manual transmission. A long-lived engine is matched with excellent all-terrain capability thanks to 4WD, high and low range, manual-locking front hubs, super single wheels, and a heavy-duty lifted suspension. Inside, these rugged credentials are balanced with a function-first interior with basic driver comforts.
