The Ford F-350 is a popular choice for backcountry travel with adventure-ready examples such as this 2002 Crew Longbed w/ Topper, 2016 XLT FX4 w/ Four Wheel Campers Raven, and 2015 XLT w/ XP Camper V1. In recent years, these older models with the fabled “million-mile” 7.3-Power Stroke diesel have become increasingly desirable for overland builds and have subsequently shot up in value. It’s not hard to see why since they offer exceptional longevity, impressive capability, generous payload, and extensive aftermarket support. Further still, they’re a sweet spot between old and new with serviceable mechanicals but enough power and comfort to make daily driving relatively painless. Cue today’s 2002 Ford F-350 Super Cab, which has covered 179,xxx miles and is the perfect blank canvas for a full build out. If you’d like a better idea of how this pickup can be outfitted for rugged exploration, then check out builds from Blue Ridge Overland Gear, Down 2 Mob Overland, and The Silent D Motor Show.
From the Seller:
“I’m the second owner, picking it up from a rancher who special-ordered the truck from the Ford dealer in Laurel, Montana. The truck runs and drives really well. I had to replace the driver’s rear caliper soon after I got it, but it stops great now. Recently had the glow plugs, glow plug relay, under valve cover gaskets, and under-valve cover harness replaced with original Ford parts. They also rebuilt the cold-weather warm-up in the turbo pedestal. There are a few dings, especially rock chips from rear wheels, and the clearcoat on the hood is failing. The frame and suspension have surface rust, but it is just surface. Starts every time. The electrical system has not been butchered in any way, with no additional accessories added. I would not hesitate to drive this truck across the country tomorrow. It is a hoot rowing through the gears and listening to the turbo. It pulls excellently.”
