2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty

The F-250 is a favorite on our forum with recent examples including this 1997 with a Bimobil camper, a 2018 Lariat with an XPCamper V2, and a 2021 Tremor with a Northstar Liberty camper. Today’s (124,000 miles) 2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty has to be one of the most unique to date and showcases a “bulletproofed” 6.0-liter Power Stroke motor, extensive modifications, and is topped with a Spacekap Diablo camper. My first thought looking at this build is that it finds a sweet spot between capability and liveability. The camper is just big enough to be comfortable without adding excessive weight or overhang to the rig. Meanwhile, the truck has been uprated for serious exploration with a suspension overhaul, armor, winch, front and rear lockers, and more. If you’d like to better understand how the F-250 performs in the backcountry then check out the adventures of Jon Burtt and Primal Outdoors.

From the Seller:

“This truck needs absolutely nothing, is well maintained, and ready to travel. It’s a purpose-built vehicle made to explore the Western USA and Baja. A sort of ‘poor man’s Earthroamer.’ Extensive receipts and notes on upgrades and routine maintenance, all OEM parts where applicable, with useful upgrades elsewhere. All systems work; there are no flashing lights, blown fuses, or any other gremlins. It is a 20-year-old vehicle used for adventures, so it is not cosmetically perfect, but it’s quite clean, all things considered.”

2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty

The F-250 is fitted with a 6.0-liter Power Stroke motor that, in stock form, delivers 235 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque (it’s worth noting that this example has been “bulletproofed”). A powerful diesel engine is matched with excellent capability thanks to 4WD, armor, high and low range, sliders, uprated and lifted suspension, front and rear ARB lockers, a winch, Warn manual locking hubs, and more. These rugged credentials are balanced with interior comforts that include:

  • Cruise control
  • Air-conditioning
  • Pioneer stereo and speakers with Alpine amp
  • Backup camera
  • Powered and heated leather seats
