Ford E-350 4x4

The E-350 has been in production for almost 60 years, which makes it Ford’s second-longest-running nameplate. During this time, it has remained in a constant state of evolution, with each iteration more dialed than its predecessor. With its range of powerful and long-lived engines, impressive payload, comfortable interior, and wide array of chassis/body styles, it’s a beloved commercial vehicle and a figurehead of both the vanlife and overlanding revolutions. It’s ideally suited to travel since it provides generous interior living space within a relatively modest external footprint, and thanks to almost unparalleled aftermarket support, it can be totally transformed from a 2WD workhorse into a legitimate 4WD expedition platform. The ability to upfit the chassis with a heavy-duty 4WD system, high and low range, solid axles, a lifted suspension, and even front and rear lockers ensures the E-350 is in a league of its own compared to other AWD vans within the segment. To this end, cue today’s 2007 Ford E-350 Sportsmobile (157,700 miles on a chassis/engine rebuilt and bulletproofed at 79,232 miles), which has been completely reimagined from the ground up (73,468 miles on rebuild) for backcountry exploration. Today’s seller, an active member of the community, realized that while the Sportsmobile served as a comfortable camper, it was not suitable for the rigors of overlanding. Subsequently, they endeavoured to build the ultimate Sportsmobile i.e. “V2.0,” and the result is exceptional. This well-appointed rolling home comprises a custom interior with welded frame cabinetry for optimal strength, a large house battery system, 25 gallons of freshwater with dual-stage filtration, dual fridge/freezers, climate control, and much more. If you’re in the market for a turnkey four-season-ready overland rig that’s built for off-grid domestic and international travel, look no further.

Ford E-350 4x4From the Seller:

After a test trip to Baja in the stock Sportsmobile, I quickly realized it wasn’t built for real-world overlanding. Cabinet joints failed on washboards, wall panels were coming down, and the suspension was inadequate for anything beyond campgrounds. So, I stripped it down to the bare chassis and rebuilt it to be a true expedition platform—built for self-sufficiency in any terrain, any climate, and any country. Meet version 2.0, a complete ground-up professional rebuild with a focus on reliability and long-term serviceability. It’s not new anymore, but it’s incredibly well cared for, always stored indoors, and has been exceptionally reliable. If someone handed me a gas card and said, ‘Go drive the Pan-American,’ I’d leave tomorrow without a single modification. Ready to drive around the world. Title in hand. No trades.”
