The Ford E-350 4×4 is a great fit for backcountry adventures with recent examples including this 1997, 2003 Timberline, and 2008 Sportsmobile. It’s a platform that brings together the capability and durability of a 4WD with the practicalities of a van and is subsequently revered by both the vanlife and overlanding communities. Additional highlights include a bulletproof 7.3 Power Stroke motor, generous interior space versus a modest external footprint, and access to extensive aftermarket care. The immense popularity of this platform also means there’s a thriving online community to offer expertise and guidance on everything from mechanical servicing to camper conversions (the Expedition Portal forum is a great place to meet fellow owners). If you’d like to better understand the merits of this platform for travel then check out rigs from the Driving Line, We’re the Russos, and Ally and Lance. Cue today’s 1998 Ford E-350, which showcases a wealth of premium upgrades and a CCV 4×4 conversion. From the Seller:

This was a very special build that took a long time to acquire the parts we needed—we essentially wanted a brand new rig, mechanically speaking. The top has been cut and raised 10 inches and we added a custom fabricated cab over for extra storage or another sleeping area. The interior height is now roughly 6 foot 6 inches. The interior is completely stripped and ready for someone to make it their own.

The E-350 is fitted with a 7.3-liter Power Stroke diesel that produces 215 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque (range provided by a 47-gallon fuel tank). An exceptionally long-lived motor is matched with impressive capability thanks to a CCV 4×4 conversion (with upgrades). This service upgrades the E-350 with a heavy-duty 4WD system, high and low range, armor, a lifted and uprated suspension, 4.10 Yukon gears, manual locking front hubs, and Detroit Tru-Trac differentials. These rugged features are balanced with a well-equipped interior with driver comforts that include:
