2022 AEV Prospector XL w/ Four Wheel Campers Project M :: Featured Classified

Ram Prospector XL

In recent years, the popularity of full-size trucks has grown exponentially, with the advent of more of us working remotely being a key factor. Subsequently, travelers are turning to platforms suitable for heavier live-in builds, and in this regard, full-size pickups are optimal. Overland Journal deep dived the Full-Size Revolution with Executive Publisher Scott Brady, stating, “When we first started Overland Journal, the compact pickup was by far the most popular choice for overlanding, but that gap is quickly narrowing with full-size variants. The reason is simple—big trucks are more capable than ever before, and they have the payload to haul more than a few passengers and a basket of groceries.” Within the segment, the Ram 2500 has continued to be one of the most desirable options thanks to its heavy-duty 4WD system, considerable payload and towing capacity, a well-appointed interior, and an exceptionally powerful and long-lived Cummins diesel motor. In stock configuration, this truck is well-suited to the backcountry, and with the support of industry leader AEV (American Expedition Vehicles), it becomes one of the most impressive overland platforms, period. Cue the AEV Prospector XL, which reimagines the venerable 2500 from the ground up with a range of rigorously tested in-house and vetted supplier components. This is, without question, one of the most dialed and capable full-size options on the market, and has been coined the ‘North American Unimog.’ Cue today’s 2022 AEV Prospector XL (53,600 miles), which is underpinned by an optioned-out Ram 2500 Laramie and boasts a plethora of AEV upgrades and a well-appointed Four Wheel Campers Project M. This rig was meticulously built by community member Swellrunner, with many photos of this rig documented on his Instagram. AEV Prospector XLFrom the Seller:

This truck will go anywhere effortlessly, and the camper sets up in minutes providing amazing comfort in the backcountry. This setup allows you to poop, brush your teeth, make breakfast, chill, and be ready to break camp without going outside—unless you want to. And the Alu-Cab Shadow awning makes outside chill-time even better—it’s the chef’s kiss. The truck is a serial-numbered, built by AEV themselves, Prospector XL. It eats up the highway miles effortlessly, cruising at 85 mph without hesitation, and the adaptive cruise control is the icing on the cake. If you’ve never wheeled a truck like this, you’re in for a real treat. The 40s, aired down, paired with the AEV dual sport suspension absorbs any bumps you encounter. I used this rig, but not that much, and it’s mostly sat the last two years. However, its seen some fun trails and some beautiful parts of the country, so you’ll find hints of that here and there, but there’s nothing very notable other than some marks on the camper from branches. I did have some pin stripes that were paint corrected before I had the PPF installed on the sides.”
