2003 Ford E-350 Sportsmobile U-Joint Offroad 4×4 :: Featured Classified

Ford E-350 4x4

I’ve lived and traveled in various vehicles over the last decade, and maintain that for long-term trips/life on the road, it’s hard to beat a van. There’s no shortage of options on the market, but the selection is more limited for those able to handle the rigors of overland adventures. Sure, there are AWD variants available, but these are built for inclement weather and gravel roads, and will struggle when the terrain becomes technical. Fortunately, Ford’s E-350 has you covered, and can be upfitted with an array of backcountry-focused parts/accessories and enjoys access to on-demand 4WD conversions from the likes of Quigley 4×4, Advanced 4×4, Quadvan, and U-Joint Offroad. These services carry forward the model’s desirable factory attributes (such as an exceptionally long-lived motor and drivetrain, a generous payload, and international parts availability/dealership support) but introduce a capability that would make most 4WDs blush. To this end, cue today’s 2003 Ford 2003 Ford E-350 (194,000 miles), which boasts the “million-mile” 7.3-liter Power Stroke diesel motor, a premium Sportsmobile camper conversion, and a U-Joint Offroad 4WD conversion (see original listing for full details). At $67,500, this meticulously maintained, turnkey rig represents impressive value and is a fraction of what it would cost to recreate. It’s available now with no lead time and is turnkey ready for summer adventures.

Ford E-350 4x4From the Seller:

The time has come to sell our 2003 Sportsmobile RB50, which was recently converted to 4WD at the U-Joint Colorado shop (I picked up a Four Wheel Campers slide-in for our existing truck,  so the van proceeds can go toward our home renovation project). I purchased this van in 2022 in Long Beach, California, after an extensive search for a 2WD Sportsmobile RB50 with the 7.3 Power Stroke. Turns out they are relatively hard to come by, especially in a non-white color. I wanted the opportunity to convert it to 4WD so I could select the options and benefit from the brand-new mechanical upgrades, rather than buying a 20+-year-old conversion that would ultimately need a refresh anyway. I’m passing that benefit along, and you are getting a super dialed van with only ~30,000 miles on the 4WD conversion. We will miss this van dearly. It is, and will forever be, my dream van build, and we traveled reliably all over the Western US with it. The original Sportsmobile paperwork and build sheet are included. It’s had strict service intervals: oil and air filters every 5,000 miles (max) and fuel filters every 10,000 miles (max).”

The E-350 is fitted with the legendary 7.3-liter Power Stroke diesel that, in stock form, produces 215 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque (some examples were uprated from factory to 225 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque). An exceptionally long-lived motor and drivetrain (rebuilt 4R100 transmission with all-new torque converter) are matched with impressive capability thanks to a U-Joint Offroad conversion. This uprates the E-350 with a heavy-duty 4WD system, high and low range, Dana axles, a front Detroit Truetrac limited-slip differential, a rear OX locker, 4.56 gears, a lifted and uprated suspension, and armor. Inside, these rugged backcountry attributes are balanced with driver comforts that include:
