The Best Deal You’ll See On A 2016 EarthCruiser

There are plenty of seriously cool mega-overlanders out there these days: Global Expedition Vehicles, Acela trucks, and, of course, EarthRoamers will make any four-wheel-drive enthusiast’s heart beat a little faster. But when it comes to traveling, there’s one vehicle I would take above the rest, and that’s the EarthCruiser. While their Fuso-based expedition trucks may lack the interior luster of some other brands, they are perfectly sized to fit in a container for secure shipping around the world and can park easily in a standard spot in front of your favorite brewery downtown. They have a turning radius that rivals some sedans, are short enough to be allowed into every national park, and basically manage to deliver a big truck living space in a small truck package. The only catch? New EarthCruisers are listing from $270,000 to $400,000, and that’s a large chunk of change. But right now, you can pick one up for less than $200,000 on the Expedition Portal Forum, and it comes with everything you need to leave tomorrow. Let’s take a look.

This particular FX model is a 2016 and has 73,000 miles on the clock. The current owner bought the vehicle for a two-year “bucket list” trip around North America and is now moving back to his home base in Thailand. They note that this is a “turn-key sale” and the buyer won’t need to do a thing but hit the road. Based on the included list, I would have to agree. Everything from recovery gear to cutlery is taken care of.

“If it’s not on the itemized list below I never needed it in over two years and 50,000 miles of cruising. Start the motor and Voyager 3 is set up, ready and able to carry you anywhere in the world on your own ultimate adventure. Voyager 3 is in excellent condition with nearly every available factory option and a full set of service records, and is still under Fuso’s factory warranty.”

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Chris didn’t receive a real taste of the outdoors until moving to Prescott, Arizona, in 2009. While working on his business degree, he learned to fly and spent his weekends exploring the Arizona desert and high country. It was there that he fell in love with backcountry travel and four-wheel drive vehicles, eventually leading him to Overland Journal and Expedition Portal. After several years of honing his skills in writing, photography, and off-road driving, Chris now works for the company full time as Expedition Portal's Senior Editor while living full-time on the road.
