Some of you already know that we have recently acquired a 2020 Ford Transit AWD 148″ HR EcoBoost to join our Expo vehicle line-up. As we build it for some upcoming adventures, we have spent quite some time looking at the various components offered by different vendors in the Overland community. Contrary to the Sprinter which has been popular for a long time amongst the vanlife crowd, there are not a lot of companies on the market specializing in conversion and products for the Transit (although the list is growing up quickly). While we have been working for years with well-established partners, we are also always on the lookout for new vendors that appear to be developing high-quality products. One such company is LimitLess Van from which we have procured a Safari rook rack and will be doing a more in-depth review in the coming weeks.
This leads us to our classified for today. Besides offering new exciting products for the Transit, Limitless Van also offers full conversion on the Transit chassis. They have built a van to showcase their work, and it is now offered for sale as a brand-new demo vehicle (with less than 200 miles on it). We think the list of features is just perfect and put it in an attractive price bracket.
Let’s start with the powertrain, which it is always one of the main considerations. While the 3.7-base engine is perfectly capable and simpler/cheaper to maintain (especially if you consider a trip to South America, as our own Scott Brady ponders in the video below), the reality is that the EcoBoost is very appropriate in this van. I just completed an 8,000-mile road trip from Boston to San Francisco and there were so many occasions where I was smiling while easily pushing the large van up the hills (Utah and Colorado come to mind) or keeping with traffic when the speed limit was 85 mph. In addition, the EcoBoost will yield a better resale value and will have the capacity to tow any complementary toy you ever decide to acquire. You already know that this van is AWD, so the EcoBoost may also be handy for these larger tires.

Designed and built by the team at Limitless Van, this is a true multi-purpose adventure vehicle. With an easily removable platform bed and a bench seat that slides forward and back and folds down for sleep, this van is built for work or play and comfortably seats and sleeps up to five people.
It’s loaded with 200 AH Lithium Battle Born batteries, a 3,000 watt-watt Victron inverter/charger, and 200-watt Zamp Obsidian solar panels, making it ready for some serious off-grid adventuring. And the RedArc Total Vehicle Management System with Bluetooth connectivity makes it easy to control all the systems of this van from one place. Coincidentally, we are installing a very similar setup in our own Expo Transit as we find this combo (RedArc/Battle Born) to be just the perfect balance between cost, weight, ease of installation, and power delivery.
Here is a great video from Limitless Van showcasing the RedArc Total Vehicle Management system in that same Transit.
