With the growing popularity of the Australian converted Dodge Ram 1500, ARB’s engineers have designed and developed a Summit Winch bar for that model, which also benefits the North American market. Due to the size of the vehicle and its ability to tow up to 4.5 tons (subject to vehicle specification) the 2009-2018 ARB Ram 1500 bull bar has been designed to suit 12,000-pound winches. To accommodate the larger winch sizes the lower pan of the Ram 1500 bar is a different profile to other Summit bars and features additional bracing to achieve the higher winch loads. Testing has been conducted via FEA simulations, testing with ARB’s 30T press and fitted bar, and winch testing with ARB’s load cell to ensure that the bar assembly, chassis mounts and chassis perform as expected under winch load conditions. Old Man Emu Suspension
The Ram 1500 is also getting ARB’s OME suspension system, which includes a wide range of spring rates to match the user’s load requirements. While it does not increase payload, it does reduce or prevent sagging, and allows for a matched spring rate to the weight of a bull bar and winch. Ride height also increases depending on the rate selected and load applied.
