Pin Drop Trailers Manufactures Classic Teardrop Trailers in Arizona
Arizona-based Pin Drop Trailers produces compact, off-grid travel models. With an old-school American dedication to quality, Pin Drop sums up one of their core business strategies with the simple phrase Build For Tomorrow. “We build our micro campers for longevity from the ground up,” Pin Drop explains. “We source out quality domestic products and raw materials, combine that with tried and true construction methods, and design our campers so that components are easily replaced once they reach the end of their lifespan. The teardrop style has been adored for generations, and we build Pin Drops to do the same.”
Their three models all have a vintage aesthetic but offer modern conveniences for spur-of-the-moment road trips, getaways, and weekend escapes.
The Pin Drop Trailers Road Runner 2.0
The Road Runner 2.0 falls right in the middle of their trailer lineup with a price tag of $20,750. The model’s stand-out features begin with its custom-made, trestle-span roof rack, which greatly increases the cargo capacity of this tiny trailer. Attached to the roof rack is a sun awning that increases the liveable outdoor footprint by an additional 84 square feet, which is essential on hot summer days. A pull-out drawer with a cooler from Canyon Coolers provides you with a dedicated food storage solution to keep perishables fresh for up to a week. If you happen to be planning an extended road trip or even multiple months of full-time travel, I’d recommend opting for a chest fridge upgrade, so you don’t need to find ice or deal with it once it melts.
All Models Come Standard with Solar Power
One thing worth pointing out is that all trailer models come standard with a solar-powered auxiliary electrical system. The Vintage model has 175 watts of roof-mounted solar panels that power a 100 amp-hour battery bank and a 1000-watt AC inverter. The Road Runner offers the same, and the Scout bumps the battery capacity up to 200 amp hours, enough to supply power to a DC fridge as well as some additional electronics like LED lighting, a laptop, or most other small electronics.
Rent a Road Runner 2.0
If you’ve never tried road tripping with a travel trailer, now might be the perfect opportunity. With social distancing requirements in place for many states, escaping to more rural destinations for some outdoor time is a great way to escape the crowds and take advantage of our public lands. Because of the increased demand for outdoor recreation, the company has made its Road Runner 2.0 available for rent.
“People have seen teardrop trailers before but don’t really know what they are like to camp in,” says Founder Tim Elinski. “Comparatively, Pin Drop Travel Trailers offer amenities unlike other teardrops in the market. This is a great way for curious campers to test the product and the functionality of the design before making a commitment to purchase one.”
“Initial reviews of the Pin Drop rental experience have been incredibly positive,” said Co-Owner and Director of Communications Ruth Ellen Elinski. “Renters have enjoyed access to conveniences, specifically the functional kitchen and extra storage that you don’t usually have when remote camping. We are so excited to have a unit available for our customers to try out. Campers are finding it’s a great way to stay self-contained while exploring new, extraordinary territory.”
