Toyota has some exciting announcements this week, including new colors for the TRD Pro line, new performance wheels, shocks, and LED lighting for 4Runner, and Trail Special Editions coming this fall.
TRD Pro Models To Offer New Color in 2021
Continuing with the new color tradition, TRD Pro welcomes Lunar Rock in 2021. Lunar Rock will be replacing Army Green in the TRD Pro-color lineup.
4Runner Updates for 2021
Toyota 4Runners are about to see a handful of upgrades in 2021. A first for the 4Runner lineup, all vehicles will get LED headlamps as standard equipment. The Limited, Nightshade, and TRD Pro versions will also get LED high beams. And across the board, all 4Runners will come standard with LED foglights (the TRD Pro maintaining its RIGID LED foglamps in 2021).
In addition to the new LED lights, 4Runner TRD Pro sees the addition of new black flow form alloy wheels outfitted with Nitto Terra Grappler tires. These new wheels take design cues from the current wheelset to maintain the family look and, while doing so, offer a stronger, more rigid wheel with a more aggressive spoke design and deeper dish. Toyota says, “The switch to flow form wheels allows for unique adjustments in other areas to increase ride height and performance, specifically shock absorber tuning.” And speaking of shock absorbers, the 2021 4Runner TRD Pro will include re-tuned 2.5-inch Fox internal bypass shocks to complement its other off-road-ready hardware. Toyota says this re-tuning will produce improvements in trail driving isolation as well as highspeed performance without compromising steering response or on-road comfort. Also worth noting, the Fox shocks offer piggyback-style remote reservoirs to maintain dampening performance in the most demanding off-road conditions.
Trail Special Editions Coming Soon
Providing extra storage and unique styling, the Trail Special Editions that debuted at the Chicago auto show this year will be available starting fall 2020. The three Trail offerings will be based on the SR5 grade models and will be available in both 2WD or 4WD. Tacoma Trail is built on the SR5 double cab, and Tundra Trail on the SR5 Crewmax with SR5 upgrade package.
- The 2021 Tacoma Trail features a set of Dark Gray 16-inch TRD off-road wheels with Kevlar all-terrain tires, and the grille from the Tacoma Limited adds a custom touch. A 115-volt power outlet in the bed adds versatility, and lockable bed storage includes insulation on the driver’s side to double as a cooler.
- The Tundra Trail wears the bold chrome grille from the top-of-line Tundra 1794 Edition with color-keyed surround, plus special-edition wheels. As on the Tacoma Trail, lockable bed storage includes insulation on the driver side to work as a cooler.
- The 4Runner Trail comes ready to carry campers into the woods with Dark Gray TRD Off-Road wheels, and a Yakima LoadWarrior rooftop cargo basket for added utility and gear-hauling capability. Inside, 4Runner boasts a custom 40-quart cooler and sliding cargo tray.
