The Land Cruiser of any iteration is a pinnacle overland platform with recent offerings including this 1992, 1998, and 2013. The 100 Series is no exception, yet remains something of an underappreciated value. Highlights include the bulletproof 2UZ-FE 4.7-liter V8, a heavy-duty 4WD system, a body-on-frame architecture, a luxurious interior, and parts accessibility worldwide. To this end, cue today’s 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser (265,000 miles), which has undergone recent maintenance (including a rebuilt transmission) and boasts premium aftermarket modifications, yet could be yours for just $10,500. From the factory, this model is well-appointed for travel, and with the support of the aftermarket, it can be transformed into a backcountry beast—as demonstrated by builds from Overland Trax, 2BHuman, and ARB. If you’d like to deep dive into this desirable model, then listen to Kurt Williams explore the Principles of Overlanding :: 100 Series Land Cruiser on the Overland Journal podcast.
From the Seller:
“This Land Cruiser is in good condition for its age. However, the body has bumps and bruises. The frame is spotless, apart from one small rust spot that can be covered up or painted over. There is no other rust. The mileage is 265,000, but the timing belt was changed at 226,000, and it had a rebuilt transmission (costing $5,000). The vehicle is well maintained (always serviced at Toyota) and is the cheapest you’ll find in this condition.”
