Ford E-350

The E-350 is a popular rig for travel, with recent offerings including this 2003, 2010, and 2013 Timberline. It’s an automotive icon that’s been in production for more than half a century, which makes it Ford’s second-longest-running nameplate, surpassed only by the coveted F-150. During that time, it has been in a constant stage of adaptation, with every iteration surpassing its predecessor. With its long-lived motors/drivetrains, generous payload, comfortable interior, large interior space versus modest external footprint, and impressive aftermarket support, it was soon adopted by travelers. There’s no shortage of inspiration online with drool-worthy builds from the likes of Phelps on the Fly, Box Truck Travel, and U Joint Offroad Colorado. Cue today’s 2006 Ford E-350 4×4 (101,xxx miles on chassis/body), which boasts an Advanced 4×4 conversion, premium modifications, and a 6.7 Cummins (with 12,000 miles since installation)/Allison transmission conversion. At present, there are some issues that require attention (as documented in the original listing), but this is reflected in the $22,500 OBO asking price.

Ford E-350From the Seller:

I bought this van from a youth group that had no idea what to do with it and had to put the puzzle pieces together on my own. This van began its life in Montana as a school shuttle bus with a V10 gas motor. That’s when the 4×4 conversion happened, I believe. It had a small 14- to 16-inch high top added at that time. The person who had the engine conversion done bought it at 89,000 miles. Both the engine and transmission had 0 miles at this point. The youth group wasn’t the kindest to it despite the low usage (they had no idea how to maintain it), and while I’ve done a fair bit to sort it back out, it still has a little ways to go. Unfortunately, it needs a head gasket. It’s such a small leak that even a shop missed it. It doesn’t overheat, and it starts/runs well, but there are some small bubbles in the coolant expansion tank when it gets warm enough.”
