Ford F-350

The Ford F-350 is a great option for overland travel with recent offerings including this 19972012 w/ flatbed and composite cabin, and 2024 w/ Aluma Tray and OEV Hudson Bay. It’s also the platform of choice for many of the established expedition vehicle builds, including Nimbl Vehicles, Tactical Application Vehicles, and Rossmönster. The desirability of this vehicle is not one-dimensional but instead reflects its ability to perform across the board. With its “million-mile” Power Stroke diesel, heavy-duty 4WD system, solid axles, considerable payload and towing capacity, and comfortable interior, it’s an ideal platform for full expedition build-outs. There’s no shortage of inspiration online with travel-ready rigs from the likes of Ross Robinson, Fused Auto Electrical, and Jonathan Yentch. Cue today’s 2001 Ford F-350 4×4 (177,000 miles), showcasing tasteful modifications and a ZF6 manual transmission.
