The Toyota Troopy is considered by many as the ultimate around-the-world travel vehicle and is undoubtedly a pinnacle overland platform. We’ve featured a number of these rigs in our Classifieds category, with recent adventure-equipped offerings including this 1990, 1999 FZJ75, and 2014 HZJ78. It’s a vehicle synonymous with uncompromising backcountry durability, capability, and longevity, and is the vehicle of choice for frontline agencies operating in the world’s most inhospitable locations. Subsequently, it’s ideally suited to overland travel with no shortage of inspiring builds from the likes of 4xOverland, Jack & Megan, and Gavin Fleay. Today is a unique opportunity to purchase an almost stock 1994 Land Cruiser Troopy HZJ75 (179,808 miles), which is owned by overland royalty Gon Dirtin (learn more on the Overland Journal podcast). This is not their primary rig, but instead a secondary turnkey 70 Series that is now surplus to requirements and would serve as a dreamy blank canvas for a full build-out. From the Seller:
“This is a two-owner vehicle from Australia. It was originally an Ergon Energy utility vehicle until 1996, when it was purchased by the second owner (who took excellent care of it). It has never been driven on the beach and is in prime condition. Runs well and shifts into gears beautifully. The Troopy is available for pick up in Southern California.”
