If you’re a regular visitor to our classifieds category, then the keen eye amongst you will have recently spotted a very similar 1997 Ford F-250 HD 4×4 topped with an Alaskan camper. Generally speaking, I refrain from featuring two similar models so close to one another, but today’s rig is so cool that I couldn’t help myself. This classic F-250 (235,000 miles), matched with the vintage German Bimobil camper, is timelessly cool and creates a live-in vehicle that finds a sweet spot between everyday driveability and liveability. Bimobil campers were founded back in 1977 and are synonymous with fabled German engineering and quality. This particular example was previously owned by writer, photographer, and filmmaker Foster Huntington, who is perhaps best known for books such as Home is Where you Park It. It made me smile when I finally realized it, as I’ve always loved Foster’s choice of vehicles, so it was somewhat inevitable that this build would stop me in my tracks. Not to mention, at $22,500, it’s a great deal considering the value of the Bimobil camper alone. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly live-in vehicle to explore the US and beyond, then look no further.
From the Seller:
“The truck runs great and has been regularly serviced, and the camper is a Bimobil from Germany bolted to the frame. The camper is super warm in the winter. It’s a pretty cool story, as someone working in Germany bought it new and shipped it over to have that camper put on and toured around Europe in it. The founder of Holden Snowboards then bought it and shipped it back. We purchased it from one of Paris Hilton’s friends and her boyfriend Foster, who wrote Home is Where You Park It.”
