Camp365, based in Minneapolis, has taken an idea and run with it, creating several different aerodynamic, fold-out, towable cabins. They liked the concept so much that they decided to add the Camp365 T Model truck camper to the expandable line-up. Designed specifically for electric vehicle (EV) owners seeking a truck bed camper with minimal impact on range, the T is compatible with mid-size trucks such as the Rivian R1, Ford Lightning, Tesla Cybertruck, and others. Camp 365’s Mobile Emergency Response Cabin is a true stroke of genius. However, their other towables and the T Model will likely only appeal to a specific adventure-focused buyer with a particular need. Fittingly for a camper designed for vehicles of the future, the T Model reminds us of a lunar pod or a habitat from a science fiction movie.
The T, half tent and half hard-side camper, is characterized by its lightweight and aerodynamic build, tipping the scales at a mere 700-800 pounds, depending on options. This sleek design reduces wind resistance, resulting in a modest estimated 5-10% reduction in range when installed on an EV. Measuring approximately 4 x 7 feet when stored in a truck bed, the T Model unfolds within minutes to reveal an expansive 9 x 7 feet interior, encompassing 63 square feet of space. This spacious cabin comfortably accommodates 4-5 individuals and boasts an impressive headroom of 6 feet and 8 inches. Despite its roomy interior, the T Model, with its 4-foot collapsed width, easily fits into residential garages. Additionally, it incorporates patented technology, allowing a single person to load or unload the camper in approximately 10 minutes. Taking inspiration from the original Camp365 model unveiled in 2018, the T Model is suitable for year-round travel thanks to its dual-layer air gap insulation walls.
This all-electric camper is solar-ready and includes features such as a folding queen, twin, or bunked sleeping system, a 24-gallon water tank (splittable to 12/12 for fresh/grey water), a hot water shower, sink, faucet, toilet, and an induction cook-top. It also offers electric heating and air conditioning, 75 inches of dry storage between both folding walls, a spacious, lockable bed storage drawer, exterior racks for e-bikes, bikes, kayaks, or paddleboards, two side awnings, and Starlink internet connectivity.
Kevin McGregor, CEO of Camp365, says,
“We’re proud to add to Camp365’s heritage of providing innovative products to the RV market with the T Model. Not only does this new model have a modular design that makes it among the most spacious campers in the category, but it allows electric vehicle owners an option to explore and adventure with limited loss of range to their vehicle.”
All Camp365 units are manufactured in the United States, with plants located in Iowa and Minnesota. The new Camp365 T Model starts at $25,000 and can be reserved with a fully refundable $100 deposit. Production is scheduled to commence in early summer 2024.
