Scout Tuktut, the Midsize Slide-In Camper You Want

Often we feature campers which, while practical and desirable, are often far from the financial reach of most who are juggling the demands of an expensive life. Many want to build a vehicle and explore without having to sell our souls, a child, or both kidneys. Scout, a well-known and respected manufacturer of outdoor recreational vehicles, has unveiled its latest creation, the Scout Tuktut. Not only is the camper practical and desirable, but it is also affordable, most notably for the DIY outfitter. The Tuktut serves as a blank canvas for you to build out, slim down, reconfigure, or customize as you go, catering to the needs of even the most discerning DIY enthusiasts.

Weighing in at a mere 634 pounds, this camper is perfectly designed to fit a wide range of midsize trucks, including popular models such as the compact Ford Maverick, Jeep Gladiator, Ford Ranger 5-foot bed, and Toyota Tacoma 5-foot bed, among others. With its compact size, the Tuktut comfortably sleeps two people, and with aftermarket customization options available, it can even accommodate additional children or pets.

What sets the Tuktut apart from other campers on the market is its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. Built with an energy-efficient design and a lightweight structure, this camper is powered by solar energy, eliminating the need for hook-ups when exploring nature. Whether you’re embarking on a weekend getaway or a longer expedition, the Tuktut provides all the essentials for a minimalist travel experience.

One of the standout features of the Tuktut is its modular design, which allows for portable amenities and features that enhance versatility during your travels. These modular additions can be used both outdoors and on other adventures, offering opportunities for customization. Furthermore, the Tuktut is built to withstand the test of time. Its all-season protection is ensured by an aluminum exoskeleton and no-wood composite structural panels that are resistant to rotting. This durability guarantees that the camper will be a reliable companion for all your outdoor escapades.

Scout has also partnered with Goose Gear, a highly reputable manufacturer of modular storage solutions in the outdoor industry. The Explore Series (developed in collaboration with Goose Gear) offers a range of innovative modules exclusively designed to configure within the Scout Tuktut model. These modules are made of 6063 aluminum alloy with T6 tempering, surpassing industry standards for slotted profiles and providing high corrosion resistance. The combination of durability and lightweight functionality makes the Explore Series a seamless addition to Scout’s minimalist and utilitarian product lineup.

As the smallest model in the Scout lineup, the Tuktut offers an agile and lightweight camping solution that is ideal for adventurous spirits. Factory options include removable camper jacks, bilateral bedrail runners, and an all-new, powder-coated porta ledge bunk extension system. The Tuktut comes equipped with an impressive array of standard features, including a 22-inch entry door with a friction hinge, window, and cover, an aluminum exoskeleton framing, clear view windows with screens and solar reflective shades, decorative interior composite panels, a complete composite substrate construction, gel coat fiberglass exterior and roof, outdoor performance fabric cushions and mattress, and a ratchet tie-down system. For those seeking additional options, the Tuktut offers porta ledge bunk extensions and removable four-corner jacks with stabilizers, allowing for further customization and enhanced functionality.

The Scout Tuktut is set to hit the market in the third quarter of 2023, with prices starting from $16,500. The Scout Tuktut will be available for purchase and installation through any of Scout’s existing dealer and service centers and Goose Gear’s dealer locations. Customers can reserve their camper by placing a $500 deposit. Customers also have the option to have their modules installed at the factory for convenient onsite deliveries.
