Full-Scale Ineos Grenadier Production Has Finally Begun!

It has been a long and impatient wait for many, but the Ineos Grenadier 4WD has made the giant leap into the final stages of production, and vehicles will soon be rolling off the factory floor. Those registered for Ineos email updates would have followed the story closely and witnessed the vehicle’s progression from a much-lauded concept to a rolling vehicle, touted to be a genuinely rugged 4wd inspired by the universally loved Land Rover Defender. The Grenadier has enormous shoes to fill, and we will all benefit from the real-world impressions of those lucky first recipients.

“We’ve come a long way since this project kicked off in 2017, and it is a landmark moment for Ineos Automotive as a vehicle manufacturer. To get to this point is a testament to the resilience and hard work of the entire Ineos team, our development partners, and our suppliers”

said Mark Tennant, Ineos Automotive Commercial Director.

According to the press release, global supply issues continue to constrain output, but customer deliveries are expected in volume from early December, and Ineos Automotive has built a worldwide network of 200 sales and service sites.

The Grenadier will be offered with two powertrains; a 3.0-liter BMW B57 I6 turbo diesel and the 3.0-liter BW B58 I6 turbocharged gasoline engine, both six-cylinder. The transmission will be a ZF 8-speed automatic, and the vehicle will come standard with permanent four-wheel drive and low range via a 2.5:1 Tremec transfer case. As per the Classic Defender, the Grenadier will feature long travel progressive rate coil springs on all four corners, disc brakes, a ladder frame, and beam axles. Manufactured in Hambach, France, the Grenadier is currently offered as a five-door mid-size SUV with a wheelbase of 115 inches and a total length of 191.2 inches.
