Cross Egypt Challenge was first organized in 2011 as an initiative to promote tourism to Egypt—a stunning country on the Mediterranean and Red seas filled with temples, pyramids, and other millennia-old monuments. The rally offers a breathtaking experience for both riders and spectators, routing from Alexandria, near the Mediterranean shores in the north to Egypt’s southern borders, and the temple of Abu Simbel.
The challenge is a series of motorcycle and scooter rallies along off-the-beaten-path destinations through the country’s most challenging terrain.
With last year’s event canceled, the Cross Egypt Challenge team is proud to announce the rally will run this year from Oct. 7-16, which also happens to be the event’s 10th anniversary. Enter your scooter or motorcycle for a chance to race across the Egyptian Western Desert on the new, modified route totaling 2,440 km (1,556 mi). There are eight stages, with one planned rest day in Luxor.
The Cross Egypt Challenge is the only cross-country rally of its kind in the region, combining the best of adventure travel with extreme sport. In 2011, there were only 14 brave participants; today, the Challenge has seen up to 75 riders from more than 50 countries.
