There’s no such thing as the perfect overland vehicle, but some rigs come close. Those considered pinnacle travel platforms do not ordinarily excel in any single area, but rather perform respectably across the board. To this end, the Mercedes Sprinter 4×4 is one such example and has subsequently become a figurehead of both the vanlife and overlanding communities. At its foundation, the Sprinter is engineered to endure daily punishment as a commercial workhorse and is the van of choice for businesses around the world. It boasts class-leading build quality, a dependable engine and drivetrain, an impressive payload, respectable economy, and best-in-class cab comforts and tech. Further still, it’s internationally ubiquitous and supported by Mercedes’ fabled global support network and almost unparalleled community support (a huge benefit for international travel). The 4×4 variant carries forward these desirable attributes but introduces a sophisticated AWD system, a lifted and uprated suspension, armor, and intelligent onboard assists. If that wasn’t enough, it’s the aftermarket darling with a huge array of parts, accessories, and services available to totally reimagine the Sprinter for adventure. To this end, cue today’s low-mileage 2022 Mercedes Sprinter 144 4×4 (37,000 miles), which was professionally built by Sync Vans and showcases extensive backcountry-focused modifications and a fully equipped interior.

From the Seller:
“For sale is our 2022 Mercedes 2500 Sprinter Diesel 4×4 built out by Sync Vans in Bellevue, Idaho. This van has been incredible, taken us to amazing places, and been attentively maintained by Stone Sprinter Services. We love it; it’s been a big part of our family. However, we’ve purchased some land and our needs have changed. We’ve thought about keeping the Sprinter but would be doing so solely out of sentiment. I set this van up to be a perfect fishing, hunting, and exploration vehicle and it’s been all of those things. I chose Sync Vans, who have since retired, because of their ultra-durable, no-fuss builds with bulletproof, highly accessible systems. Their killer feature is a motorized queen bed that slides up into a day-bed, creating a ton of space in the shorter 144 wheel-base. I’ve never been able to deal with sleeping in a van side-to-side with flares or bump outs and found this design to be perfect. The Mercedes B service will be done before delivery (it’s due sometime in the next six months) or before the end of the summer. It’s on its second pair of tires and averages between 12 and 13 mpg. Other work, little upgrades here and there, has been done at Momentum Vans in Arlington, Washington State.”
