The New Year is synonymous with reflection and change. In 2024 I want to focus on owning and buying less but doing more. With this in mind, an overland vehicle is a great way to maximize experiences. Whether you plan to explore at the weekend, road trip for weeks at a time, live on the road, or even travel the world, a live-in rig is a great option. However, choosing a reliable vehicle that will facilitate adventure and not become a troublesome money pit is crucial. As the owner of the latter, I don’t like to think about the experiences lost to mechanical setbacks. In the past full-size trucks were often dismissed as being too cumbersome, thirsty, and overkill for overlanding but that’s no longer the case. In fact, they’re considered by many as the optimal choice with Overland Journal Publisher and Chairman Scott Brady stating: “Travelers are finding the benefits of a slightly larger vehicle that is designed to carry heavy loads day in and day out. This is particularly true with full-size trucks, where a GMC Sierra gets better gas mileage than any mid-size truck.” If you’d like to learn more about the benefits of these platforms then listen to Why Full-Size Trucks Should Be Seriously Considered for Overlanding on the Overland Journal podcast. Ford is another manufacturer that has been at the forefront of this movement with a range of exceptionally powerful, yet surprisingly frugal full-size trucks that provide excellent payload, towing capacity, and capability. Subsequently, they’re a great option for a well-equipped camper as demonstrated by today’s offering. This low-mileage (31,000 miles) 2018 Ford F-250 4×4 showcases the Lariat trim package, premium modifications, and is topped with a desirable XPCamper V2. This is a turnkey live-in package that can be enjoyed as is or could be further uprated for off-grid adventures.

From the Seller:

“Up for grabs is a meticulously maintained Ford F-250 Lariat paired with the XPCamper V2. With less than 32,000 miles on the odometer and comprehensive records, including several years of gas mileage data and all original paperwork. The combination of the F-250 and V2 offers reliability, luxury, and plenty of capability. I acquired the V2 in 2018 from XPCamper and lived in it full-time for half a year through the winter ski season (Canada, Washington, and California) and then the spring mountain biking season (Arizona, Utah). Use was more sparing after this. My parents have had it for the past couple of years – their dream was to own a camper upon retirement but due to life changes on their end and for me now as a homeowner we are unable to give it the use it deserves. I’d like this package to go to an owner who will use it properly. Both the truck and the camper are in pristine condition with no rust, exposure to oceanic air, or prolonged stints in harsh elements. The truck handles excellently; the F-250 is a fantastic platform and you have no idea you are driving a camper. You can sit comfortably at 70-80mph, but above 85mph wind noise is simply too much for us to enjoy so we tend to drive slower. But there is no problem with power up hills or accelerating, nor braking in any situation. It drives solidly. The suspension was uprated with an extra leaf spring and airbags for levelling.”
