2013 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road w/ Alu Cab Canopy Camper :: Featured Classified

Toyota Tacoma

Today’s second-gen 2013 Toyota Tacoma (145,000 miles) has been meticulously upfitted for overland travel and is one of the most dialed examples we’ve featured. The attention to detail is outstanding, and great care was taken when upgrading the vehicle to respect the limitations of the mid-size platform. Expedition Portal and Overland Journal Publisher Scott Brady states, “The Tacoma has been the benchmark of compact overland trucks since its introduction, and the model represents 62 percent of all trucks reported in our surveys.” The Tacoma is unquestionably a pinnacle overland platform and, since its release in 1995, has forged a reputation for bulletproof reliability, class-leading build quality, and impressive capability (especially when optioned with the TRD Off Road package). It was for these reasons and more that international travelers Bound for Nowhere chose a largely stock 2008 Toyota Tacoma as their rolling home. On the Overland Journal Podcast the couple discussed how transformative owning the Tacoma was, stating, “With our Vanagon, it was a lot of stress and anxiety about the mechanics of the vehicle itself, and then we traveled a lot in the Tacoma, and were able to instead focus on us and what we were doing.” Today’s seller has carried forward the desirable stock DNA that makes this vehicle so special but has then injected considerable time and money to address its shortcomings and create a turnkey overland rig. Whether planning an around-the-world trip or adventures closer to home, this Tacoma would be a fantastic choice.

From the Seller:

Purchased this truck on Expedition Portal about 2.5 years ago. I have taken it on trips to Vermont and to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. However, my work schedule has prevented me from taking it out more, and I have two other vehicles (4Runner and ZR2). Since owning the Tacoma I have put about 5,000 miles on it. It has never seen salted roads since I have owned it. The truck was mostly built when I purchased it, so credit to the previous owner. In terms of condition, the truck is in excellent condition inside and out for its age. There are some small paint chips, dings, and scratches in the paint from road trips and mild off-roading. Truck was just returned from OK4WD where it had $1,700 in service and mods.”
