2004 Mitsubishi Fuso FG Expedition Truck :: Featured Classified – SOLD

Fuso

There’s no shortage of expedition-ready 4WD truck chassis on the market, but far fewer that are sold and supported globally. The Mitsubishi Fuso is one of the illustrious few and is subsequently one of the most desirable options for travel. From the factory, this vehicle was intended for off-grid commercial applications and is appointed accordingly; it boasts a heavy-duty 4WD system, a function-first interior, considerable payload, and up to 30,000 kilometer service intervals. It’s also favored by the aftermarket with a wide array of parts, accessories, and services available to further uprate this truck for the backcountry. It’s for these reasons and more that it has long been the platform of choice for premium overland vehicle builders such as EarthCruiser, All Terrain Warriors, and SLRV Expedition Vehicles. Overland Journal Publisher Scott Brady states, “The Fuso is a true global platform, proven in the remote and inhospitable places of the world where road conditions change with the season, or may not exist at all. In my travels on six continents, the Fuso is always there; cruising along a highway in Chile or busting through the bushveld of Botswana.” Cue today’s 2004 Mitsubishi Fuso FG (185,000 miles), which boasts extensive modifications, a four-season ready habitation box, and was the lead protagonist in Americas Overland – The Driving Handbook by Donald Greene. Needless to say, this rig is the real deal and is not simply a proof of concept but an extensively proven expedition truck that’s ready to drive around the world.

From the Seller:

Simplicity to perfection. Arguably the most robust, reliable, capable, and comfortable FUSO build. At this price point, I can pretty much guarantee it. You can go almost anywhere, and it needs nothing, zero, nada. It is ready, robust, and redundant, and needs only fuel to drive to Panama (or your nearest national forest). No investment of any kind required for overland travel after purchase. It’s registered in Washington as an RV and insured by State Farm as such. It’s been serviced regularly. Currently has 185,000 miles and growing, which is about ½ way through its life. It runs exactly like it did a dozen years ago. I would expect it to be running long after you’re done with your adventures. This is not a van. It is spacious inside. The rig is somewhat famous in overlanding lore. Kim and Don Greene originally had the rig built, although we have completely remodelled it and done heavy off-roading mods to the truck itself. They wrote a book about this Fuso and their travels through the Americas (book included in the sale). Nothing regarding mechanical robustness and reliability is ever ignored on this end.”
