The Stewart and Stevenson LMTV (or “Light Medium Tactical Vehicles”) are a desirable platform for expedition truck builds, and for good reason. Over the past two decades, this vehicle has been extensively proven in both heavy industry and military applications and was subsequently awarded the US Army’s “ultra-reliable” status. Despite these bonafide credentials, these trucks remain an impressive value when compared to comparable chassis. With this in mind, cue today’s low mileage 1995 Stewart & Stevenson (13,000 miles), which showcases a plethora of desirable upgrades and is topped with a fully equipped four-season composite habitation box. At $225,000, this is a premium vehicle, but it’s a fraction of the cost of comparable builds from the likes of GXV, Unicat, and Bliss Mobil. Further still, this is a legitimate rolling home that seamlessly blends uncompromising 4WD capability with luxurious interior comfort and generous amenities. At this price and low mileage, I’d be confident that you could live full-time or travel long term and, when the time came to sell, recoup what you spent. If you’re in the market for a turnkey expedition truck at a great price to explore at home or abroad, then look no further.
From the Seller:
“I have always been an outdoorsy person and love to explore. My last truck was a 1988 Defender 110, which I fitted a Corvette LS3 engine in and, after 7 years of upgrading, sold on Bring A Trailer. I loved the process of building a unique vehicle and personalizing it, and after selling my Defende,r I wanted a new challenge. My friend had this LMTV and finally sold it to me after many months of asking. I spent roughly 9 months building it out in my free time. I just had my first child 7 months ago and have taken it on a number of trips but currently struggling to use it enough and that’s why I’m selling. It’s a wonderful truck, and the build quality is amazing. The comfort and amenities are just like a house, which makes it super nice to travel in. I hope the new owner will get to use it as intended and have a ton of fun!”
