Video of the Week: Five People, 16,000 miles, and One Old Land Rover

How adventurous is your family? Do you think you’d survive a nine-week road trip together in a small car? How about a nine-month road trip in a tiny 60-year-old Land Rover that breaks down every day? Well, the Hyland family did just that, and their route took them from London to Singapore across some of the most beautiful and unpredictable parts of the world. It was a true adventure, and Exploring Alternatives caught up with them at the last B.C. Overland Rally to get a closer look at what each member of the family thought of the journey.

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Chris didn’t receive a real taste of the outdoors until moving to Prescott, Arizona, in 2009. While working on his business degree, he learned to fly and spent his weekends exploring the Arizona desert and high country. It was there that he fell in love with backcountry travel and four-wheel drive vehicles, eventually leading him to Overland Journal and Expedition Portal. After several years of honing his skills in writing, photography, and off-road driving, Chris now works for the company full time as Expedition Portal's Senior Editor while living full-time on the road.
