Toyota Unveils Concept Vehicles at SEMA

The 2024 Toyota exhibit is organized into several sections, each dedicated to a particular aspect of lifestyle adventure. The segments, including off-roading, tailgating, and performance driving, highlight the versatility and adaptability of Toyota’s vehicle lineup. A key feature in this year’s showcase is the TRD Forged Billet upper control arm kit, a new product developed for the Toyota 4Runner and FJ Cruiser models.

Mike Tripp, group vice president of Toyota Division Marketing, emphasized the company’s dedication to performance and adventure.

“At Toyota, we have an unwavering commitment to performance and adventure, no matter where our customers find it.”

He added that SEMA provides an ideal platform for showcasing what can be accomplished when stock vehicles are upfitted using the expansive Toyota accessories portfolio, inspiring fans and enthusiasts to explore new possibilities.

At the heart of Toyota’s SEMA display are familiar models such as the Land Cruiser, RAV4, Tundra, and Tacoma, all outfitted with parts from the AAP portfolio. These vehicles serve as a demonstration of how Toyota can enhance adventure and lifestyle experiences through a variety of accessories and modifications.

Among the concepts featured at Toyota’s 2024 SEMA booth are:

The 4Runner TRD Surf Concept is designed to pay homage to Southern California’s surf culture. This vehicle blends the 2025 4Runner body with design elements from the original model, including a removable top catering to the needs of modern beachgoers.

The Calty Land Cruiser ROX, an open-air concept developed by Toyota’s Calty Design Research team, reimagines the topless Land Cruisers of old while blending modern design with classic touches for an immersive outdoor adventure experience.

The GR86 Rally Legacy Concept draws inspiration from rally video games and Toyota’s rally heritage, combining the GR86 body with a GR Corolla turbocharged powertrain and AWD system. This concept pays tribute to Toyota’s motorsport history while embracing modern performance capabilities.

The Ultimate Tailgate Tundra (similar to the Nissan Trailgater we featured in October), designed in line with Toyota’s NFL partnership, transforms the Tundra into an entertainment hub. It includes five large screens and a spacious canopy, creating an ideal tailgating setup for sports fans.

The Toyota RAV-X Concept, inspired by the Dakar Rally, showcases the potential of the RAV4 platform for off-road performance enthusiasts. This concept vehicle is geared toward those seeking thrill and capability in a crossover SUV.

The Suprabird Tribute, built to honor NASCAR legend Richard Petty, features the GR Supra as a foundation. Sporting Petty Blue livery and a customized aerodynamic body, this concept honors Petty’s legacy while highlighting Toyota’s ongoing connection to NASCAR and motorsport.

Toyota has also developed the #84 Tacoma TRD ProRunner Race Concept in collaboration with driver Jimmie Johnson. This vehicle is based on the Tacoma SR5 and reimagined as a Baja-style off-road race truck, complete with desert-ready features and a unique lightning-themed exterior.

Other notable concepts include the Classic Adventure Cruiser, featuring a full Toyota lift and upgraded wheels, and the ’94 Toyota Drift Truck, a vibrant hot-pink fusion of American minitruck culture and Japanese drift car styling. Meanwhile, the Modellista Overland Vision Concept takes the Land Cruiser to new heights of sophistication, balancing function and form.
