If you are a successful, likely retired, single person or couple, a new van is on the market designed especially for you. The GH1 adventure van is, on paper, ideal for traveling North America, with a focus on the US and Canada. Tiffin Motorhomes, a subsidiary of Thor Industries and a brand traditionally associated with luxury Class A motorhomes, has expanded its portfolio by introducing the GH1. This new model represents Tiffin’s entry into the Class B segment, targeting consumers seeking a compact, mildly off-road-capable vehicle without sacrificing comfort.
Built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 chassis, the GH1 measures approximately 19.5 feet in length, making it suitable for both urban environments and remote locations. The van is equipped with an all-wheel-drive system, enhanced by an Agile Offroad suspension featuring Fox shocks and BFGoodrich KO2 All-terrain tires. The AWD option is available when the Sprinter 2500 is equipped with the high-output 2.0-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine, which produces 211 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque.
The Mercedes unit is locked to US-grade ULSD (≤15 parts per million) and doses DEF at roughly three percent of fuel burn; prolonged exposure to 350 to 1,000-parts per million diesel risks sulfate loading of its DPF and poisoning of the SCR catalyst, and the vehicle will derate or refuse to start if the DEF tank runs dry. Hence, this vehicle is generally not suitable for travel in the Majority World. This engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, providing a smooth and efficient driving experience.
In terms of capabilities, the AWD Sprinter 2500 offers a payload capacity of up to 3,858 pounds and a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, depending on the specific configuration. These features make it a versatile choice for various commercial and recreational applications.
The GH1’s exterior includes functional elements such as a roof-mounted LED light bar, a side-mounted ladder, and a roof rack, all designed to support outdoor activities. An onboard ARB air compressor is also included, facilitating tire inflation and other pneumatic needs during off-road excursions.

Inside, the GH1 offers a layout designed for two occupants. At the rear, a power-lift bed can be raised to create a gear storage area during transit and lowered to provide sleeping accommodations at night. The kitchen area features a portable induction cooktop, an 88-liter refrigerator accessible from both inside and outside the van, and a fold-down exterior work surface. A wet bath is situated behind the driver’s seat, equipped with a cassette toilet and a hot shower.
The front seating area offers two configurations: a two-seat Luxury Jump Seat or an Adventure Bar, which serves as a multipurpose console with storage compartments and a work surface. Both options are designed to maximize the use of space and provide flexibility for dining or work-related activities.
The GH1 comes standard for off-grid capabilities with a 540 amp-hour Battle Born lithium-ion battery, a 3,000-watt Victron inverter/charger, and a 220-watt solar panel. An optional upgrade to an 810 amp-hour battery is available for those requiring extended power reserves. The van also features a 98-liter freshwater tank and a Showermiser system that recirculates water during shower warm-up to conserve resources. Pre-wiring for Starlink satellite internet is included, with an option for factory-installed Starlink Pro connectivity.

The GH1 has received Owl-Ready certification, indicating compatibility with aftermarket modifications from Owl Vans. This includes provisions for expanded fuel tanks, pre-wiring for additional cameras, and reinforced mounting points for exterior accessories.

Pricing for the Tiffin GH1 starts at approximately $240,000, positioning it competitively within the upper end of the market segment. With its combination of off-road features and interior amenities, the GH1 aims to meet the needs of travelers seeking a balance between adventure and comfort.
