The Award-Winning Australian Xscape Camper Trailer is Packed with Innovative Features

In continuation of its legacy of building award-winning camper trailers, Ultimate Campers has introduced the highly anticipated Xscape camper trailer, a worthy successor to the acclaimed X25 model. This latest addition to Ultimate Campers’ lineup has once again secured top honors, clinching prestigious awards in Australia, including ‘Most Innovative,’ ‘Best Compact of the Year,’ and the coveted ‘Camper Trailer of the Year 2023’ title at the esteemed 2023 Camper Trailer of the Year awards held earlier this year down under. It is an exceptional trailer, with an exceptional price tag.

The Xscape, (built by Eagle Outdoors Group, a specialist in textiles engineering and manufacturing for over 45 years who acquired Ultimate Campers in 2018) boasts a comprehensive array of features designed to elevate your Outback overland adventure. Luxury and functionality harmonize within the Xscape’s design and standard inclusions and features include a plush leather lounge, a memory foam mattress, a Redarc solar panel, and 18-inch alloy wheels, among others. One of the standout features is the robust power and water provisions (additional 100-liter water tank capacity), making it an optimal choice for off-the-grid journeys. The Ultimate Xscape also embraces creature comforts with the Truma Saphir air conditioner and the Truma D6 Combo unit for heating and hot water.

The Xscape offers an upgraded, cutting-edge 24-volt Victron System power system that boasts a staggering 14.3 kilowatt-hour lithium battery capacity. This advancement powers all the onboard systems and can run the air conditioning for an impressive seven hours when the battery is fully charged. To harness solar energy efficiently, the Xscape incorporates solar blankets from Redarc, delivering substantial charging capability.

The Xscape showcases ingenious engineering, with a fishbone chassis design and molded fiberglass body that optimizes weight reduction without compromising strength or storage capacity. The interior layout has been subtly enhanced since its previous iteration, now featuring a larger fridge and a folding mattress. The camper’s suspension, consisting of Cruisemaster’s ATX airbags provides adjustable ride comfort and excellent leveling capabilities. The camper’s striking Toyota Nebula Blue finish adds a touch of elegance, but does require occasional upkeep.

Externally, a significant upgrade involves the main roof hinge, now equipped with roller bearings for improved load-bearing capacity, even when unfolded. This enhancement enables users to transport additional items on the roof, such as kayaks or bicycles, with a 100-kilogram load rating. There have also been updates to hinges, catches, and latches.

The camper’s detailed engineering extends to its reinforced features, including DuraGal beams and RhinoCoat protection as well as new proprietary receivers for single-handed pole insertion, this design element not only enhances ease of setup but also contributes to the camper’s 360-degree shade coverage, eliminating the need for obstructive poles on the ground. The camper’s roof hinges have been strengthened, supporting up to 200-kilogram when static and 100-kilogram when open, and the rear door features gas assistance, and its streamlined design conceals cabling and hoses for a polished appearance.

Retailing at a whopping $80,000 USD the Ultimate Xscape is a premium product packed with premium features, as you would expect. The trailer is currently available in Australia and there is as yet no indications whether it will be making it over the pond to the US, though there was talk of selling the Ultimate Campers trailers in Portland, Oregon back in 2020.
