As a significant development in the overland and #vanlife industry, Sportsmobile West’s license agreement with Sportsmobile IP, Inc. has ended. This represents 30 years of vehicle builds and product development from SMB West, including their targeted focus on building highly capable and durable vans for backcountry travel.
Alan and Liz Feld are quite literally luminaries in the overland and vanlife industry and have supported the growth of our community for decades. Overland International has worked with SMB West for well over a decade, including a memorable adventure through Copper Canyon in Mexico.
We are excited to see what comes next from Alan, Liz, and Jonny Feld in the years to come—no doubt, it will continue to redefine and support the industry they love.

[FRESNO, CA September 2, 2020] — Sportsmobile West, Inc., has manufactured and
sold recreational vans under a licensing agreement with Sportsmobile IP, Inc., for the past
30 years. Our license agreement has ended. As such, we will not be permitted to take
any new orders to build vans for customers until July 1, 2021.
Sportsmobile West, Inc., remains open for business from our same business location at
3631 S. Bagley Avenue, Fresno, California, 93725, and committed to all customers. We
will fulfill all existing customer contracts and honor all warranties. Our talented production
and craftspeople will continue to build high-quality recreational vans for all existing
customers that placed an order and made a deposit by June 30, 2020. Our staff
also stand ready to assist all customers with any repair and warranty work needed.
Alan and Liz Feld thank everyone for the past 30 years of fun, friendships, and adventure
with our company. Our outstanding team will be available to assist through this transition.
SPORTSMOBILE WEST, INC., was founded in 1989 by Alan and Liz Feld to build custom
recreational vans. Throughout the years, they have been at the forefront of the custom
van manufacturing industry. The company has developed heavy-duty off-road vans that
travel all over the world. This includes the world-class 4×4 System for the Ford E-Series
van. Today Sportsmobile, West, Inc. manufactures on Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Ford
