Patriot Campers Debuts the Supertourer ST5: A Compact, Off-Grid Camper with Serious Capability

You may be familiar with the Australian Patriot Camper trailers if you are a fan of the awesome XOverland YouTube channel. Patriot Campers has officially revealed its latest overland offering, the Supertourer ST5, a compact off-road camper designed for rugged expeditions without compromising comfort or capability. At just 5.2 meters long and with a target weight of 1,750 kilograms, the ST5 delivers a substantial feature set within a compact footprint.

Built around a lightweight, hot-dipped galvanized Rigilite steel chassis, the ST5 benefits from structural rigidity and balance, enhanced by years of off-road racing experience. The chassis houses integrated water tanks, climate systems, and a space-saving spare wheel to maintain a low center of gravity. Paired with a purpose-built suspension system called Trinamic, the ST5 is engineered for off-road performance.

This triangulated radius-arm setup offers 250 mm of travel, independent articulation, and monotube shock absorbers optimized to keep tires grounded across uneven terrain. The suspension supports both 33-inch and optional 35-inch tires, while 285 mm disc brakes ensure confident braking performance.

The exterior construction features a structural aluminum skin, and composite panels joined using Patriot’s Aerojoin adhesive and fastener system. The composite elements offer insulation and thermal efficiency, protecting interior systems and maintaining four-season usability. Above, the low-profile roof is lined with 800 watts of solar panels and can lift 150 kilograms, supporting rooftop storage of kayaks, gear boxes, or even a small boat using an integrated Exorack system.

Storage is one of the ST5’s defining strengths. With more than 1,500 liters spread across the interior and exterior, the camper includes dual Exorack systems, MOLLE paneling, and large lockers for bulk gear. The front-end “mancave” area, inspired by Patriot’s Gen2 X-Range, houses dual gas bottle holders and is shaped to deflect rocks and protect the tow vehicle.

Convenience and serviceability have also been considered. All serviceable components, fuses, and schematics are routed to a central service locker located behind a single door and marked with a complete schematic for intuitive troubleshooting in remote environments.

Additional bulk storage lockers and porthole windows adorn the right-hand side, while the left includes a discreet electric awning and access to the outdoor kitchen.

The ST5 retains Patriot’s signature outdoor kitchen layout, allowing the entire length of the interior to be dedicated to living space. The kitchen includes a dual-zone 95-liter fridge, hot and cold sink, 110-liter pantry, induction cooktop, and fold-down workbench. A stainless steel door acts as the primary prep area, while modular storage compartments offer room for cookware and utensils.

Inside, the ST5 features a U-shaped lounge that converts into a queen-sized bed with an optional overhead bunk. Neutral-toned fabrics, marble-textured surfaces, and dimmable lighting give the interior a refined, contemporary feel. The bathroom includes a composting toilet and a fold-over dual-stage floor, creating a watertight shower area with ceramic fixtures, non-slip flooring, and full headroom for comfort.

Powering the trailer is a 460 amp-hour lithium battery system fed by the rooftop solar array and a 50-amp charger. A 3,000-watt inverter, multiple 240-volt/110-volt GPOs, and USB-C ports allow comprehensive power access inside and out.

Twin electronic management systems, accessible via Bluetooth, separate internal and external controls for streamlined operation.

According to Patriot Campers founder and CEO Justin Montesalvo, the brand was born from the desire to create a lighter, more compact camper trailer that could handle harsh Australian terrain and still provide creature comforts. The ST5 represents a culmination of that vision, offering a balance of engineering, luxury, and off-grid autonomy.

With an emphasis on modularity, durability, and off-road performance, the Supertourer ST5 is aimed squarely at travelers seeking long-range capability without sacrificing refinement or reliability. This trailer is a premium product with a price tag to match, and the ST5 retails from $ 140,000 in the US.
