Overland Classifieds :: GXV Patagonia

The pandemic forced many wealthy jet setters to explore closer to home, and with that came a boom in luxury overland vehicles. We’ve shared a number of these expedition-ready rolling mansions, including this $675,000 2021 SLRV Expedition Vehicle, a $334,000 2015 EarthCruiser #64, and a $290,000 Mercedes Vario 4×4. Perhaps it’s just me, but I always considered vehicle overlanding a relatively cheap way to see the world, where you willingly sacrificed the comforts of home in pursuit of raw experiences. I’m not judging, and there have been many times I’ve yearned for more refinement and luxury, but some of the prices are astronomical (for example, EarthRoamer’s HD starts at $1,900,000).

Global X Vehicles (GXV), much like EarthRoamer and EarthCruiser, are known for producing high-end go-anywhere rigs that contain all the amenities of a luxury apartment. Today’s $529,000 GXV Patagonia is no exception, showcasing an exquisite camper interior and premium modifications. I certainly can appreciate a vehicle like this;there’s no denying the desirability of a truly go-anywhere rig that’s almost entirely self-sufficient and incorporates all the comforts of home.

From the Seller:

Built by Global Expedition Vehicles to be the biggest and baddest overlander on the planet, the GXV Patagonia is the last word in overland luxury. Built on a 2017 Kenworth chassis, this Patagonia has the Expedition Body, which features a back cabin comfortable enough to be an apartment.”

GXV Patagonia

Global X Vehicles, based in Springfield, Missouri, are designed to be the ultimate luxury overland vehicles and are “custom-built and designed by our staff’s extensive travel knowledge to help overlanders foresee requirements related to their travel adventures.”

Founder Michael Van Pelt realized that most RVs and campers were not truly self-contained or capable of serious all-terrain travel.Tired of “being attached by an electrical umbilical cord to posts besides slabs of concrete, surrounded by hundreds of people in the same situation,” inspired by Unimogs crossing dunes in National Geographic, Van Pelt set out to create the ultimate self-sufficient go-anywhere camper. In 2006 he shipped his creation to South America. The rig performed amazingly, and in a year of overland travel, Michael only stayed at two campgrounds. Global X Vehicles was born, and today the company is considered one of the best overland vehicle builders in the world.
